New business to get money for parking lot

A new business moving into a former Franklin grocery store is getting help from a city board to repave the parking lot.

Urban Air is bringing an indoor trampoline park and other attractions to the former Marsh store, located at 1172 N. Main St. The business originally asked for $10,000 to help with repairing the parking lot, but the request was increased to $50,000. The Franklin Redevelopment Commission approved the grant this week.

Franklin Mayor Steve Barnett said the parking lot has often been used by traffic cutting between U.S. 31 and Main Street, especially during recent construction on Main Street.

Urban Air will spend $58,000 on the $108,000 total cost to repave the parking lot.

The company also is investing more than $1 million in work to the building and equipment for their business, officials said.
