Burger King coming to State Road 135

A new fast food restaurant is planned at a growing Center Grove area intersection.

Burger King has filed plans with the city to build a 3,840-square-foot restaurant at the southeast corner of State Road 135 and Smokey Row Road, near where a Kroger and shopping center opened last year.

The restaurant wants to open by the end of the year and is on track to receive a building permit in August, Greenwood Planning Director Bill Peeples said. The company still will need to get approval from the Greenwood Board of Works and Public Safety, he said.

Burger King didn’t specify an opening date, but similar projects usually take about three months to complete, which means the restaurant will likely open before the end of the year, he said.
