Cubs play in two tournaments
Franklin split its squad in order to compete in two invitationals Monday.
Led by Taylor Drake’s 95 and a 97 from Avery Auton, the Grizzly Cubs placed fifth of 10 teams at the Plainfield Invitational with a 443 total. Franklin’s 15th-place effort (of 18 squads) at Bloomington South was on the strength of Olivia Parramore firing a 95 and Ellie Beavins carding a 99.
The Cubs shot a 403 at Bloomington Country Club.
Braves second in three-way meet
Jacqui Button and Lauren Parsley finished with scores of 45 and 46, respectively, to lead Indian Creek to second-place Monday. Olivia Parsley shot a 58 for the Braves.
Decatur Central scored a 193 to win the event at Winding River Golf Course in Indianapolis, while the Braves were second with a 212. Beech Grove took third by shooting a team score of 214.

Grizzlies QB on All-American list
Franklin College senior quarterback Chase Burton was named a second-team preseason All-American by D3Football.com on Tuesday.
Already a two-time HCAC Offensive Player of the Year, Burton led the nation in touchdown passes last season with 42 while throwing for 3,761 yards in 10 games.
