Dining in the dark fundraiser set

A fundraiser this month will highlight the hardships of older adults while raising money for a nonprofit organization that serves them.

On Aug. 24, Johnson County Senior Services will serve a three-course meal completely in pitch-black darkness. Diners will get in touch with all senses as they savor the smell and taste of the dining experience.

The meal will be complete with music and conversation.

The event begins at 5 p.m. at the Compass Park Community Center at the Indiana Masonic Home, Franklin.

Cost is $63 per individual, and $500 to $1,000 for a reserved table for eight.

The keynote speaker will be Richard Brendan, a local broadcaster.

The event includes a silent and live auction and is intended for guests 15 years old and older.

Funds raised at the program will also help provide many of the free essential services that enhance the lives of Johnson County seniors.

Johnson County Senior Services also maintains a food pantry and delivers food to seniors in need and at risk, as well as providing free durable medical equipment, information and assistance.
