5 things: Music at the creek

A parade, car show and music are part of an annual education foundation event.

Music at the Creek is later this month.

Heather Hart, Nineveh Hensley Jackson Educational Foundation president tells you what you need to know.

When and where is the event?

The NHJ Educational Foundation’s Music at the Creek Festival is Sept. 30. The event will be kicked off by the first annual parade at 10:30 a.m. The parade will start at the old Indian Creek elementary school and end at Indian Creek High School.

The festival will begin when the parade arrives about 11 a.m. The festival will be in the high school parking lot.

What activities are planned?

More than 70 vendors are registered for the festival (homemade items, crafts, informational, and direct sale consultants). We will have bands playing all day on our Badfoot Entertainment Stage featuring South of 44 playing from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. p.m. We predict having 75 cars participate in our open car show. Other attractions include: Farmer Olympic games for the entire family, Jail to Bail Activity, horse rides, FFA porkchops, cotton candy, face painting, bike rodeo, Little Ninja Warrior course, pedal tractor pull, a raffle and fire department demonstrations.

There is something for everyone at the festival. It is a wonderful community event.

How much does it cost?

We charge $2 per car to park.

Where do proceeds go?

All proceeds will go to the NHJ Educational Foundation to make a difference in our students’ lives by funding innovative, engaging and creative learning opportunities for the students of all Indian Creek Schools. Due to the success of last years Music at the Creek, NHJ Educational Foundation was able to award $10,000 in teacher grants this past year. We would like to double that next year.

How did you get the idea for the event?

The NHJ Educational Foundation wanted to bring the community together to support the Indian Creek Schools, so the festival was born. This is our sixth annual festival and it has grown every year.
