2 arrested on drug charges; police find 2-year-old in backseat of vehicle during traffic stop

Two people were arrested after Greenwood police said they found drugs inside the vehicle, along with a 2-year-old child.

Crystal McClintic, 41, was arrested on charges of trafficking with an inmate, neglect of a dependent, visiting a common nuisance, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a narcotic drug and possession of a controlled substance. Michael Newton, 41, was arrested on charges of maintaining a common nuisance and neglect of a dependent.

At about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, a Greenwood police officer stopped Newton’s vehicle in a parking lot off U.S. 31. The car was searched after a police dog indicated smelling drugs in the vehicle, the report said.
