Assisted living center plans open house

An assisted living center is opening its doors to show off their holiday decorations.

Morning Pointe of Franklin, 75 S. Milford Drive, Franklin, is conducting an open house 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 13.

Guests will be able to tour the decorated community, vote on their favorite door decorations and take home a holiday dessert.

Store celebrates opening in Prince’s Lakes today

A bargain retailer will celebrate the grand opening of a new store in the southern part of the county today.

Dollar General recently opened at 8846. Nineveh Road, Nineveh. The store’s official grand opening is 8 a.m. today.

The first 50 adult shoppers at the store will receive a $10 Dollar General gift card and the first 200 shoppers will receive a Dollar General tote bag with complimentary product samples, among other giveaways.

Area financial planner featured speaker

A Johnson County-based financial planner was a featured speaker at an industry meeting.

Janette F. Koon was recently a featured speaker for the 2017 Waddell & Reed Midwest Cluster Meeting at Belterra. The meeting focused on trends in financial planning practices, investment updates, long-term care issues and health care costs and Social Security strategies in retirement.

Koon has been a professional in the financial services industry for more than 20 years, serving individuals and families throughout the Johnson County community. She affiliated with Waddell & Reed in 1993.
