Three local high school seniors have received full-tuition scholarships to college.
Avery Auton and Britney Klotzsche, both seniors at Franklin Community High School, and Madalynn Bright, a senior at Greenwood Community High School, will receive full-tuition scholarships and an annual $900 book stipend as the 2018 Johnson County Lilly Endowment Community Scholars.
This is the first year in recent history three scholars have been named.
Applicants were selected based on volunteer community service, academic preparation and performance, leadership and good character.
The scholarship program is a 21-year-old program run by the Johnson County Community Foundation.
A local committee selected finalists and Independent Colleges of Indiana picked the winners.
