House south of Franklin destroyed by fire

A home south of Franklin was destroyed in a Friday evening fire.

No one was injured in the blaze.

A driver passing by a home in the 5000 block of East County Road 400S about 8:45 p.m. Friday called to report a house fire, Amity Fire Chief Jackie Brockman said.

The single-story home was fully engulfed in flames, and firefighters spent about an hour putting the fire out, he said.

The residents were not home at the time of the fire, and they are now receiving assistance from the Red Cross, Brockman said.

That cause of the fire has not been determined and is still under investigation, he said.

The Whiteland, Nineveh, Needham, Trafalgar, Bargersville and Franklin fire departments assisted, Brockman said.
