Bus crash causes minor injuries

Two elementary students, a teacher and a bus driver were taken to a hospital to be treated for minor cuts after a crash involving a Center Grove school bus Monday afternoon.

Two students were on the bus at the time of the crash. The bus was in the process of picking up students for afternoon preschool at Sugar Grove Elementary School, according to a news release from Center Grove schools.

The bus was headed west on Smokey Row Road near Saddle Club Road around 12:30 p.m. and a utility truck going the opposite direction hit a pothole, which led to one of its doors popping open and striking the bus, interim Bargersville Police Chief Tod Bertram said.

The door struck the front of bus and also damaged multiple windows on the driver’s side, he said.

The bus driver, an aide and two students were taken to Community Hospital South to be treated for minor cuts, the news release from Center Grove said.
