Boys Basketball

<strong>Center Grove invited to Classic</strong>

Center Grove was one of four teams invited to play in next season’s Raymond James Hall of Fame Classic, to be played at the New Castle Fieldhouse on Dec. 29.

The Trojans will face Westview in a first-round game at 11 a.m., with Valparaiso and Warren Central facing off afterward. The consolation game will be at 6 p.m., with the championship to follow.

Westview was 28-2 this season, reaching the Class 2A semistate. The Warriors will be led by 6-foot-4 guard Elijah Hales, who was just named an Indiana Junior All-Star.

Center Grove returns three starters from a team that went 20-7 and reached the Class 4A regional final. Valparaiso was 20-6 and won a 4A sectional title, while Warren Central completed a perfect 32-0 season on Saturday by beating Carmel in the Class 4A state title game.

Baseball

<strong>Lancers’ opener postponed</strong>

Edinburgh’s scheduled Monday game against Trinity Lutheran has been postponed due to unplayable field conditions. A makeup date has yet to be determined.

Franklin College

<strong>Baseball opens trip with win</strong>

In the first game of its weeklong trip to Florida, Franklin College got itself back on track with an 11-6 win against Keuka College on Monday afternoon.

Sam Claycamp drove in three runs and was one of four players with three hits for the Grizzlies (12-1). Jarrod Smith, Brandt Pawley and Jackson Freed each added three hits, while Drew Naumovich and Frank Podkul drove in two runs apiece.

Franklin plays a doubleheader against Union College today.
