Drainage study planned

The county is planning to study an area in southern Johnson County that frequently floods.

Johnson County Commissioners unanimously approved moving forward with the $56,000 drainage study of the area around County Road 700E and County Road 400S in Blue River Township.

The area, which is just west of Interstate 65, frequently floods and has for quite some time, Commissioner Ron West said.

One issue the study will look at is a drainage tile underneath the interstate, he said.

The area is one of several in the county where officials would like to do a drainage study, officials said.
