Braves earn victory

Indian Creek used a four-run second inning to pave the way to a 5-3 win against Cloverdale in Western Indiana Conference action Thursday.

Sydney Logsdon got the Braves (2-0, 1-0) on the board in the first inning with an RBI single, and Kasey Wilhoit tripled in a run during the decisive second.

Flashes top Warriors

In a game that was tied through three innings, Whiteland wound up running out of gas and taking a 15-5 defeat against Franklin Central on Thursday.

Haylee Mathena was 3 for 4 to lead the Warriors, while Shelby Gibson and Abby Nacio had two hits each.

Girls tennis

Woodmen edged

Greenwood fell just short in a 3-2 battle with Southport on Thursday. Maddie Bright earned a three-set win for the Woodmen at No. 1 singles, while Alyssa Roscoe and Maecee Terhune earned a point at No. 1 doubles.

Franklin College

Tarver leads sweep

Alexis Tarver went 7 for 8 with a pair of home runs to help Franklin College open HCAC play with a doubleheader softball sweep of Rose-Hulman on Thursday.

Tarver homered once in each game for the Grizzlies (15-3, 2-0), who won by scores of 7-1 and 12-3. Pitcher Olivia Paszek improved to 9-0 by winning the opener, and Danielle Wyse joined Tarver in going deep during the second contest.
