Three local residents report scam attempts

Three local residents reported receiving phone calls telling them they had warrants out for their arrest, and police said the calls were scams.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office received three reports Thursday from residents who had phone messages telling them they were in trouble with the IRS or had warrants for their arrest. The callers told them to call back, but none of the residents returned the calls, according to police reports.

No one lost any money, the reports said.

Deputies told the residents the calls were scams and told them not to return the calls, the reports said.
