Rezoning proposal for 3 duplexes in Bargersville denied

A plan to build three duplexes in Bargersville was turned down.

The owners of a 2.8-acre property at the northwest corner of the County Road 144 and Whiteland Road intersection requested that the property, which currently has a home on it, be rezoned from agricultural use to residential to allow the construction of three duplexes on the west side of the house, Bargersville Planning Director Julie Young said. The three single-story buildings would have a minimum of 1,300 square feet of living space per unit, according to plans filed with the town.

The Bargersville Town Council unanimously rejected the rezoning request.

Council member Ken Zumstein said he voted against the proposal because the project didn’t fit with properties in the area, which are all single-family homes.
