Johnson County home sales increase

Homes sales continue to rise in Johnson County.

Johnson County home sales in March increased by 22 percent from the same time last year, according to data from F.C. Tucker Co., an Indianapolis area real estate firm.

On average, homebuyers in the county spent nearly $200,000 purchasing homes this year, compared to an average price of about $194,000 through the same time last year, an increase of almost 3 percent. The average home price for all of central Indiana rose by about 8 percent from $186,000 to $200,000 when comparing the first three months of each year, according to a news release.

The number of homes sold in central Indiana counties last month is up 18 percent compared to the same time last year, the news release said.

The number of homes available for sale has also continued to drop. In Johnson County, potential home buyers had 19 percent fewer homes to choose from compared to the same time last year, and homebuyers in the central Indiana area had their options drop by 28 percent, the news release said.
