Unemployment dropped in March

The county’s unemployment rate dropped from February and is also lower than the same time last year.

In March, the unemployment rate in Johnson County was 2.7 percent, with about 2,220 people out of work, according to data from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

The rate is down from February, when the county’s unemployment rate was 3.1 percent. The number has also dropped from the same time last year, when 3.1 percent of workers — or nearly 2,500 people — were unemployed, according to the state data.

Statewide, the March unemployment rate remained the same as February at 3.2 percent. Last year the unemployment rate was 3.6 percent in March, according to state data.
