<p>Baseball</p>
<p><strong>Lancers club Spartans</strong></p>
<p>Edinburgh got two home runs and four runs batted in from Zach Giles during a 17-9 win over Southwestern (Shelbyville) on Wednesday.</p>
<p>Bryce Burton added a grand slam and Zach Murphy also homered for the Lancers (8-6, 7-3 Mid-Hoosier), who scored nine runs in the fifth inning to take control.</p>
<p><strong>Trojans outslug Giants</strong></p>
<p>Garrett Hill and Eli Lawyer-Smith each homered as Center Grove built a big early lead and held on to beat Ben Davis, 15-10, on Wednesday.</p>
<p>The Trojans (12-5, 7-3 MIC) scored six runs in both the second and third innings and led 15-2 after three and a half innings before the Giants tightened the score late.</p>
<p>Softball</p>
<p><strong>Trojans run record to 20-0</strong></p>
<p>Alexis Rudd drove in three runs to help Class 4A No. 1 Center Grove to a comfortable 10-1 victory over Bloomington North on Wednesday.</p>
<p>Lauren Wackerly pitched a six-hitter for the Trojans (20-0), who are now ranked 10th nationally by MaxPreps.</p>
<p><strong>Lancers rout Southwestern</strong></p>
<p>Maddi Clark struck out 10 while pitching a two-hitter and also went 4 for 4 at the plate as Class A No. 9 Edinburgh pounded its way past Southwestern on Wednesday.</p>
<p>The Lancers (11-4, 9-1 Mid-Hoosier) also got three hits apiece from Abby Schooler and Morgan Calhoun.</p>
<p><strong>Woodmen fall to Flashes</strong></p>
<p>Franklin Central used a three-run sixth inning to shake free for an 8-4 win against Greenwood on Wednesday.</p>
<p>Dominique Proctor had three hits to lead the Woodmen (3-14), while Allison Hayes, Sarah DeCastro and Olivia Daughtery each added two.</p>

<p><strong>Trojans win three-way</strong></p>
<p>Noah Gillard led the way with a 3-under-par 69 as top-ranked Center Grove defeated No. 15 Franklin and Columbus North on Wednesday.</p>
<p>The Trojans finished with a team score of 285, well ahead of the Grizzly Cubs (305) and Bull Dogs (311).</p>
<p><strong>Braves dominate Monrovia</strong></p>
<p>Indian Creek turned in a season-best score of 164, topping Monrovia by 57 strokes Wednesday at Tameka Woods Golf Course.</p>
<p>Hunter Merediths was the medalist with a round of 39 for the Braves, while Chandler Donahue and Taylor Voris each shot 41.</p>

<p><strong>Six Trojans sign with colleges</strong></p>
<p>Center Grove’s spring signing ceremony featured half a dozen athletes inking letters of intent to compete at the collegiate level next year.</p>
<p>The group was highlighted by two Division I signees, diver Sarah Kempf (Evansville) and baseball player Jacob Gilcrest (Wright State). Gleason Mappes signed on to wrestle at the University of Indianapolis, while baseball players Corey Daffron (Ivy Tech Fort Wayne), Shawn Grider (Cincinnati Christian) and Michael Wyman (St. Leo) also finalized their college commitments.</p>
<p><strong>Roncalli athletes honored</strong></p>
<p>A pair of Roncalli athletes were recent recipients of major honors.</p>
<p>Senior Jack Bauer was chosen as a swimming All-American by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association of America.</p>
<p>Senior Kathleen Soler won the I Am Sport Award at last weekend’s IndyStar Sports Awards, recognizing her commitment to helping children in the community discover the benefits of youth sports and physical activity.</p>

<p><strong>Baseball wraps up HCAC crown</strong></p>
<p>Franklin College clinched the outright HCAC regular-season championship on Tuesday, sweeping second-place Anderson in a doubleheader by scores of 11-3 and 14-10.</p>
<p>The Grizzlies (33-2, 15-1), winners of 13 straight, earned the right to host the HCAC tournament beginning on May 10.</p>
<p>Frank Podkul had a home run in each game, part of a seven-homer day for the Grizzlies.</p>
