Man arrested after pursuit

A Greenwood man was arrested after police said he fled from officers in a stolen vehicle.

David Sebree, 18, was arrested on charges of auto theft and resisting law enforcement.

A Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deputy was patrolling the Foxberry Trace neighborhood around 12:30 a.m. Thursday after a resident had reported that a person with a screwdriver had attempted to open their door, according to the sheriff’s office report.

A vehicle nearly struck the deputy’s vehicle and then drove off the road on Peterman Road, before going through a red light at Smith Valley Road. The deputy tried to stop the vehicle, but it sped off and then drove off the road and crashed about a half mile away, the report said.

A 17-year-old passenger was taken to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital for treatment of cuts to his face, the report said. Sebree was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital for a blood test, the report said.

The owner of the vehicle told officers she had left her keys in the vehicle after she had returned home earlier that night, the report said.

Sebree, 1272 S. Runyon Road, was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was held on $4,800 bond.
