The Reverend Louis Charles Speller died March 27, 2018 at his home in Franklin, Indiana. He had been surrounded by the care and love of his family, friends, church, neighbors, and hospice services. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Anna, his daughter, Cynthia Marie of Columbus, Ohio, son, Kenneth Paul and daughter-in-law, Cecilia Marie of Springfield, Illinois, and grandson Galen Alan of Springfield.

<p>
Rev. Speller grew up in Fort Thomas, Kentucky, graduated from Heidelberg University and Eden Seminary. He served United Church of Christ churches in Palos Heights, Illinois; Dayton and Troy, Ohio; Evansville, Indianapolis, and Shelbyville, Indiana for 40 years.
</p>
<p>
In retirement, he built almost 400 dulcimers and other stringed musical instruments, and he spent many hours responding to disasters in Indiana and Kentucky.
</p>
<p>
His physical body has been cremated. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 p.m., May 19 at Prince of Peace United Church of Christ, Bargersville, Indiana.
