Indianapolis artist’s work featured in Greenwood

An Indianapolis artist will have her work showcased in a Greenwood art gallery.

Karen Stanley’s art will be at the Southside Art League Off Broadway Gallery in June. Stanley will be exhibiting impressionistic landscapes and still life subjects in oil. Most of her paintings will be for sale.

An open house will be 6 to 8 p.m. June 8 at the gallery, 299 E. Broadway St., Greenwood. Light refreshments will be served.

Her art can also be viewed during regular gallery hours of 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

Stanley has a B.A. in Spanish and education from MacMurray College of Jacksonville, Illinois, a master’s degree in education from Kent State University and an M.B.A. in marketing/marketing research from the University of Michigan. Her love of art was initially inspired by her father’s sketching and wood carving. Her initial exposure to painting was in the medium of watercolor, but she has focused on oil as a medium since 2010.

While working in her careers in higher education and in marketing/marketing Research, she studied art over the years through various classes, workshops and books. She is a member of Indiana Plein Air Painters and Southside Art League.
