Girls tennis

Coaches select All-County team

Johnson County’s coaches selected their All-County team for the season. Center Grove’s Isabella Schoolcraft, who was chosen as the Player of the Year, leads the way.

Other singles players named were fellow Trojans Ellie Strube and Jillian Garrett; Katie Heuchan and Lexi Wilkison of Franklin, Reese Johnson of Whiteland, Katie Burkman of Indian Creek and Maddie Bright of Greenwood.

Also chosen were Center Grove’s two doubles teams, Emily Hoy/Ashlee Fisk and Holyn Aukerman/Abby Hoard, as well as Daryn Hyneman and Abi Smith of Franklin and Whiteland’s Bri Harwell and Sarah Scott.

The Daily Journal will also select an All-County team at the end of the season.

Boys golf

Warriors win twice

Medalist Zach Ricketts shot a 40 and Jacob Johnson added a 41 as Whiteland defeated Shelbyville, 169 to 182, on Wednesday.

Ricketts also led the way with a 37 as Whiteland defeated Brown County on Tuesday, 162 to 171. Eight Warriors shot 43 or better on the day.

Trojans roll to victory

Noah Gillard and Logan Anderson each finished with a round of 70 as No. 1 Center Grove coasted past Bloomington North, 288 to 334, on Wednesday.

Braves top Jets

Scott Russell earned medalist honors with a 41 as Indian Creek defeated Hauser on Wednesday, 174 to 187. Chandler Donahue added a 43 for the Braves (6-5).

Lancers fall to Twisters

Despite a round of 37 from Bladen Hancock, Edinburgh was beaten by Oldenburg Academy, 191 to 227, on Tuesday.

Miscellany

Shepherd ties for 13th at Indy Open

Ethan Shepherd posted a second-round 69 on Tuesday, tied for the second lowest round of the day, to finish in a tie for 13th overall at the Indiana PGA Indianapolis Open at Harbour Trees Golf Club in Noblesville.

Shepherd, who recently completed his freshman season at Indiana University, finished 2 over par overall at 144. Fellow Greenwood resident Austin Crowder also made the cut, tying for 42nd at 151.
