Handmade crafts focus of fiber arts festival

<p>You can check out goods made by local artists or learn a new skill yourself at a fiber arts festival this weekend.</p>
<p>The Hoosier Hills Fiber Arts Festival is 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Johnson County Fairgrounds, 250 Fairground St., Franklin.</p>
<p>Vendors will be selling their hand made fiber arts goods, including yarn, metal and other fiber goods.</p>
<p>Admission to the festival is free. Parking is also free. There will also be door prizes and competitions in skeins, photography, rug hooking, wall hangings and multiple competitions that work with wool.</p>[sc:text-divider text-divider-title="Story continues below gallery" ]
<p>Musical entertainment will be featured each afternoon. Festival goers can also attend a shearing demonstration, kiss and walk an alpaca or get a balloon animal.</p>
<p>People interested in learning how to make their own fiber arts goods can enroll in workshops to teach them how.</p>
<p>Skills such as chair caning, color theory, beginning knitting, e-commerce for crafters, spinning, tapestry weaving, professional fiber photography,wet felting, knit chart reading and dyeing with Indiana native plants, will be taught in workshops over both days.</p>
