Fire destroys Greenwood home

No one was injured when a fire in Greenwood destroyed a home.

Just after 2 p.m. Sunday, firefighters were called to a home in the 800 block of Bough Street, on the south side of Greenwood.

Multiple people were home when the fire started. One person heard a popping sound in the garage and discovered the fire, and everyone got out of the home safety, said Chat Tatman, fire department public information officer.

The fire department received multiple calls, and smoke could be seen from a distance, according to a news release from the Greenwood Fire Department.

Firefighters found heavy smoke and fire at the front of the home when they arrived, the release said.

The blaze was put out in about 20 minutes, but the home was declared a total loss, the release said. No one was injured.

The fire department is still investigating the cause of the fire.
