Man arrested after pursuit with police

A man was arrested after a brief pursuit with police in Greenwood.

Tyler A. Haemmerle, 33, Greenwood, was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated causing endangerment and resisting law enforcement.

At 3 a.m. Saturday, an officer tried to stop the vehicle Haemmerle was driving near Bentwood and Meridian streets. The vehicle stopped, but then took off and a pursuit began, according to the Greenwood Police Department report.

The vehicle continued to a home in the 600 block of Carol Drive, where it pulled into a driveway and parked. Haemmerle was arrested, and told police he had gone to get food and hadn’t noticed the officer trying to stop him, the report said.

A test showed Haemmerle’s blood-alcohol content was .16 percent, twice the legal limit to be considered too intoxicated to drive, the report said.

Haemmerle, 608 Carol Drive, was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was released on $2,200 bond.
