Man arrested after pursuit

A Whiteland man was arrested after police said was he going more than 50 mph over the speed limit on a motorcycle on Tuesday evening.

Odyseus Banks, 18, was arrested on a charge of resisting law enforcement.

An officer near Worthsville Road and South Emerson Avenue saw Banks riding a motorcycle going 94 mph in an area with a speed limit of 40 mph around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, a Greenwood Police Department report said.

After a pursuit that went north on County Road 75E to Stop 18 Road, the motorcycle was found abandoned at Blue Grass Parkway and Village Crossing, along with a single shoe in the grass, the report said.

After speaking with relatives of the teenager who owned the motorcycle, police determined that Banks had borrowed it. When officers visited Banks’ home, he initially told them that he had not been out on a motorcycle. Officers found a shoe matching the one that had been found near the motorcycle inside Banks’ vehicle, the report said.

Banks, 2972 Branch St., was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail. He was released on $1,200 bond.
