Man arrested after heroin found during traffic stop

An Indianapolis man was arrested after police said they found heroin during a Monday afternoon traffic stop.

Corey Pickett, 29, was arrested on charges of possession of heroin, possession of a restricted drug injection device, making a false identity statement, possession of paraphernalia and a Marion County warrant.

Pickett was a passenger in a car that police stopped just before 3 p.m. Monday on State Road 135 near County Line Road. He initially gave the officer a false name, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report said.

Police found hypodermic needles, syringes, and a plastic bag and  container both filled with heroin, the report said.

Pickett told the deputy that the items were his, the report said.

Pickett, 8005 Ambry Way, was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail. He was held on $8,800 bond.
