Man arrested after threatening, fighting police

A Greenwood man was arrested after police said he attempted to kick and threatened to kill an officer.

Thomas Waggoner, 33, was arrested on charges of public intoxication, criminal mischief, domestic battery, disorderly conduct, intimidation, battery on a public safety official and resisting law enforcement.

Waggoner’s relatives told police that he had been staying at their home in the 600 block of Stobus Drive while on house arrest. They called 911 around 6:30 p.m. June 20, reporting Waggoner was intoxicated, was acting out of control and that they had to wrestle car keys from him to prevent him from driving away, a Greenwood Police Department report said.

Officers searched for Waggoner and used GPS information from an ankle bracelet Waggoner had to wear for house arrest. They found Waggoner hiding outside of another home, the report said.

Waggoner kicked at an officer and made statements about killing an officer and the officer’s family, the report said.

Waggoner, 665 Stobus Drive, was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail. He was held on $8,000 bond.
