Man in critical condition after crash

An Edinburgh man remains in critical condition after a crash Saturday morning.

Michael Sandefur, 38, of Edinburgh, went off the road and struck a tree at 7:20 a.m. Saturday, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report said.

A witness told police that he saw Sandefur lose control of the vehicle after turning near County Road 800E and County Road 650S. The truck crossed over the northbound lane, went off the road and struck a tree, the report said.

Sandefur was flown by medical helicopter to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital for treatment. He was in critical condition as of Monday afternoon, a hospital spokesperson said.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the accident.
