Stolen credit cards used after theft

The sheriff’s office is investigating after credit and debit cards were stolen from vehicles parked in a Center Grove area neighborhood.

Both thefts happened overnight Thursday, and residents reported someone tried to use their cards on Friday.

A resident in the 300 block of Melrose Lane in the Fair Oaks neighborhood told police that he had accidentally left his wallet in his truck overnight Thursday. He went out Friday morning to find a door to the truck unlocked and credit and debit cards had been removed from the wallet, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report said.

That evening, a purse was also stolen from vehicle at a home in the 600 block of Valley Way Road in the Pebble Hill neighborhood. A resident told police that she had left her purse in a vehicle overnight Thursday in the garage, but that the garage door had been left open, the report said.

The sheriff’s office is investigating.
