Man arrested after firing gun in neighborhood

<p>A man was arrested after police said he fired a rifle in a Greenwood neighborhood Thursday evening.</p>
<p>Ian Beechler, 20, of Greenwood, was arrested on a charge of criminal recklessness.</p>
<p>An officer responded to a call of about a dozen gunshots being fired in a neighborhood on the northwest side of Greenwood just before 9 p.m. He saw Beechler laying on the ground with a rifle, a Greenwood Police Department report said.</p>
<p>Beechler told police he had been aiming for a glass whiskey bottle and had fired one shot. The whiskey bottle was undamaged, but a fence behind the bottle had two holes in it.</p>
<p>The nearest home in the direction the gun had been fired was about 100 yards away, the report said.</p>
<p>Beechler, 677 Joy Drive, was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail. He was held on $1,200 bond.</p>
