Man arrested in child pornography investigation

A Franklin man has been charged with seven counts of possession of child pornography after a months-long investigation.

Gary R. Dismore, 41, 1020 Northpointe Drive, could face more than 30 years in prison if convicted of the felony charges.

Last year, state police got a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that someone had uploaded more than 150 images of child pornography using an internet provider address in Franklin, according to the charging documents.

Earlier this year, investigators used subpoenas to get records and were able to trace the internet address to a home in Franklin, and got a search warrant for the home. Police seized a cellphone, laptop, iPod and three digital storage drives belonging to Dismore and searched them. They found thousands of pictures and hundreds of videos showing children, with some as young as toddlers, engaged in sexual activity, the report said.

Dismore told police he had received links through social media apps and one had contained child pornography, the report said.

Dismore was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was released on $1,200 bond.
