Caucus will select new clerk-treasurer

County Republicans will meet this month to select a new Bargersville clerk-treasurer.

Former clerk-treasurer Steve Longstreet decided to retire early in late July for family and health insurance reasons, Johnson County Republican Party Chairwoman Beth Boyce said.

The Johnson County Republican Party will have a caucus on Aug. 21 to vote to fill the position for the rest of the term, which ends Dec. 31, 2019.

The town clerk-treasurer is in charge of the accounting for the town including budgeting, contracting, billing and the overall collection and disbursements of funds. The clerk-treasurer last year received a salary of $56,164.

Applications for the position must be mailed to 845 Richart Lane, Greenwood, by 7 p.m. on Aug. 18.

The caucus starts at 7 p.m. at the Bargersville Town Hall, 24 N. Main St.
