Destrampe, Oliver fare well at national meet

A pair of Franklin Regional Swim Team members held their own on the second day of competition at the Speedo Junior Nationals Wednesday in Irvine, California.

Jacob Destrampe tied for 27th in the 100-meter freestyle, hitting the wall in 51.69 seconds to come up just short of a spot in the ‘C’ final.

Cade Oliver finished 32nd in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:05.89, making him the top finisher among swimmers born in 2003 or later. The Franklin swimmer then followed with a 35th-place finish in the 400 individual medley (4:33.03).

Destrampe will be back in action today along with classmate Carla Gildersleeve. Both will be competing in the 100 butterfly.
