Boys soccer

Trojans blank Bloomington North

Class 3A No. 12 Center Grove shut out Bloomington North on Tuesday, 3-0. Luke Boha, Jack Neal and Nick Wilson each scored a goal for the Trojans (2-0).

Cougars overwhelm Yellow Jackets

Josue Mier had two goals and five assists as Greenwood Christian opened its season with an 8-2 rout of Morristown on Tuesday.

George Apgar had two goals and an assist for the Class A No. 11 Cougars, while Danny Wilson had a goal and two assists. Also finding the net for GCA were Jon Amador, Jack Kovacs and Fernando Lagunas.

Grizzly Cubs dominate

Franklin cruised to a comfortable win over Greenwood and Avon on Tuesday. The Grizzly Cubs totaled 163 to defeat the second-place Woodmen by 24 strokes.

Medalist Taylor Drake led a balanced Franklin lineup with a 39. She was followed by Liv Parramore (40), Ava Ray (41) and Ellie Beavins (43).

Warriors top Pioneers, Quakers

Led by a 39 from medalist Bri Harwell, Whiteland (183) won a three-way match with Mooresville (190) and Plainfield (192) on Tuesday.

Allie Watson and Kierra Mitchell shot 46 and 47, respectively, for the Warriors.

GCA tops Shortridge

Ashtyn Witte earned medalist honors in Greenwood Christian’s victory over Indianapolis Shortridge on Tuesday.

Boys tennis

Woodmen open with victory

Greenwood got its season started with a 4-1 win over Perry Meridian on Tuesday. Nick Belovic and Aiden Luttrell were victorious at second and third singles, respectively.

The Woodmen also swept the doubles points behind the No. 1 team of Ben Sobieray and Jacob Rothaar and the No. 2 tandem of Charlie Brooks and Thomas Burtt.

Warriors swept in opener

Whiteland fell to Triton Central on Tuesday, 25-12, 25-19, 25-22. Toni Joyner had a pair of kills for the Warriors, while Lindsey Jones had a kill and was 6 of 8 serving with an ace.

Rebels sweep Lawrence North

Roncalli defeated Lawrence North on Tuesday, 25-20, 25-14, 25-18, behind seven kills from Betsy Crosley.

Franklin girls finish second

In their opening meet, Franklin’s girls earned a second-place finish behind Franklin Central at Blue River Park on Monday.

Lilly Lacy paced the Grizzly Cubs with a sixth-place finish overall and Jenna Newton was 11th.
