Oral cancer screening planned

Community Cancer Center South will host a free screening for oral cancer from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. The screenings will be done at the cancer center, 1440 E. County Line Road, Indianapolis.

Oral cancer starts in the tongue cells. It could lead to a sore on your tongue, pain, changes in your voice, and difficulty talking. Risk factors for the disease include tobacco and alcohol use, HPV infection and people older than 55. Men are twice as likely as women to develop oral cancers.

People who fit into those risk areas are invited to the screening. To schedule an appointment, go to ecommunity.com/health-screenings-community. Walk-ins are also welcome on Wednesday.
