Pools close this weekend

In a true sign that summer is coming to an end, local pools will be closing after the long weekend.

Pools in both Franklin and Greenwood will be open through Monday, and then will close for the season. The Edinburgh Aquatic Center is closed for the season.

When to swim

If you want to enjoy this weekend’s hot weather, here is when local pools will be open:

Franklin Family Aquatic Center, 390 Branigin Blvd., Franklin

Today and Sunday: 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Monday: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Freedom Springs Aquatics Park, 850 W. Stop 18 Road, Greenwood

Today: 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Sunday: 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Monday: 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Bring your dogs

One of the final summer events at both pools allows residents to bring their dogs for a swim.

Tuesday, Doggie Pool Day and Pet Fair, Franklin Aquatic Center

5 – 6 p.m., dogs less than 35 pounds

6 – 7 p.m., dogs more than 35 pounds

Register your dog and provide current shot records at the recreation center front desk before entering.

Cost: $5 per dog

Sept. 8, Puppy POOLooza, Freedom Springs Aquatics Park

1 – 2:30 p.m., dogs less than 30 pounds

2:30 – 4 p.m., dogs more than 30 pounds

Dogs must be at least six months old and have current shot records.

Cost: Free, donations will be accepted for the Humane Society of Johnson County
