Eight arrested at Franklin house party

Eight people were arrested after police were called to a party at a home east of Amity early Sunday morning.

Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the home in the 7400 block of East County Road 400S just after midnight and found at least 30 vehicles in the front yard, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Deputies found multiple beer cans and alcohol containers on the front porch, the report said. The front door was open and they could see several more open alcohol containers inside, they said.

Carver Melton, 20, who lives in the home, thanked deputies for showing up because the party had gotten out of hand and that about 200 people there at one point, according to the report.

After Melton and his roommate, Kyle Hawk were arrested and released from the Johnson County jail, they called deputies back to report several items had been stolen from the home, including a MacBook computer, PlayStation 4, cash and car keys, the report said.

Deputies rounded up the people at the home and tested them for alcohol. Deputies also found several people hiding in the back of the property, the report said.

The following people were arrested on a charge of possession of alcohol by a minor:

Hannah Nilsson, 19, 6558 Caressa Way, Indianapolis,

Angela Wotring, 19, 140 Diplomat Court, Beech Grove,

Amber Renie, 20, 6828 Bluestem Court, Indianapolis,

Melton was also on a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor because he rents the house where the party took place, according to the report.

A juvenile was arrested on a charge of possession of alcohol by a minor and resisting law enforcement after deputies said she ran from them and hid in a bathroom shower. When they found her and tried to handcuff her, she pulled away, the report said.

Giles also reported her car stolen when she returned to the house from jail, a report said. She told officers her driver’s license, social security card and debit card were also taken from her wallet, the report said.
