Franklin man rescued, hospitalized

A Franklin man had to be rescued by emergency workers after becoming belligerent and struggling on the Driftwood River.

Just after 2 p.m. Sunday, emergency workers were called to the river in Bartholomew County, where Devin McIntosh, 24, was struggling to keep his balance, according to a news release from the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department.

McIntosh’s friends and other kayakers tried to help him, but he was belligerent and was resisting. He had to be restrained until emergency workers arrived, the release said.

McIntosh also fought with emergency workers. He was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital due to his level of intoxication and the amount of water he had ingested, the release said.
