At least one thief broke into several cars and attempted to break into a house early Wednesday morning in the Center Grove area.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to multiple thefts and a burglary in the El Dorado subdivision near Stones Crossing Road and State Road 135.
At least five unlocked cars were broken into at three houses on Tournament Court about 5 a.m. Wednesday, according to Johnson County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Security cameras on one of those houses shows the suspect also tried to break into the house through the garage and basement egress, deputies said. The homeowners do not believe the burglar got into the house.
The residents are working with their home security provider to get a copy of that video footage to the sheriff’s office. Deputies found other pieces of evidence as well, according to reports.
Stolen items include a camera, prescription sunglasses, a company gas card, $140 cash, a check for $25 and some change, the reports stated.
