Teen runaway flees police, caught

<p>A teenage girl who was a runaway ran from police when they inquired about her and two young men on a sidewalk in the middle of the night, and an officer had to use a Taser on her.</p>
<p>A Franklin police officer didn’t know why the girl, a 17-year-old, began running after he stopped her and two other people who were walking on 14th Street after 1 a.m. on Thursday. The officer was checking their identities to see if they were out past curfew when the female ran, a police report said.</p>
<p>She ran through several backyards, jumping fences, while the officer chased after her and was yelling for her to stop, the report said. He yelled that he would use a Taser on her, and she didn’t stop, so he used the device, the report said. The teen fell to the ground.</p>
<p>She told police that she ran because she was a runaway.</p>
<p>She was treated and released at Johnson Memorial Hospital, then taken to the Johnson County Juvenile Detention Center.</p>
