A New Whiteland man has been charged with child molesting after police say he molested a child about six years ago.
Kenneth Charles Yarnell III, 36, 832 Delbrook Drive, was arrested and taken to jail Monday afternoon for the incident, which occurred between April and December 2012, according to court documents.
Family members of the girl, who was less than 14 years old at the time, reported the incident to police in June, documents show.
The girl told investigators Yarnell touched her inappropriately one night in 2012 when he was drunk. She said she remembered the time frame because it happened right before she attended a “Body Safety” program at school, but said she was too scared to immediately tell anyone.
The girl said Yarnell also pulled her clothing down and tried to continue the touching, but she pushed him away and asked him, “What are you doing?” documents said. Yarnell stopped and told the girl not to tell, the charging information said.
She told family members shortly after the incident, but it was not reported to police until this year.
Yarnell was released from jail on $30,000 bond.
