Local school hosting chili supper, carnival

<p>A Franklin elementary school is hosting an annual chili supper and carnival that will help fund improvements to the school’s library.</p><p>Union Elementary School’s event is 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the school, 3990 W. Division Road, Bargersville.</p><p>Ashley Scheffler, PTO vice president, tells you what you need to know.</p><p>1 What will be served?</p><p>Beef or turkey chili, peanut butter sandwich, corn chips, cookie and a drink. Hot dogs and free refills on chili will also be available. Coke products will be available for additional purchase.</p><p>2 How much are tickets?</p><p>$8 for adults, $4 for children at the door.</p><p>3 What’s happening at the carnival?</p><p>A carnival for kids will be from 3 to 5 p.m. around the Union track in the back of the school. Traditional carnival games and prizes will be featured, such as fish bowl toss, an egg relay, baseball, tic tac throw and several others. Popcorn will be available and Lickety Slick Snowball Shop (weather permitting) will be on-site for an additional purchase.</p><p>4 Where does the money raised go?</p><p>Last year, the money earned purchased interactive whiteboards for several of our classrooms. In other years, the money raised purchased Chromebooks for classrooms and supplies for teachers.</p><p>5 What are the details of the auction?</p><p>A silent auction will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. in the gym. Numerous items varying from sports, museum, zoo and amusement park tickets, art work, local shop donations, gift cards and much more will be featured in the silent auction. A live auction, with Bruce Findley as our auctioneer, will take place at the conclusion of the silent auction. Kindergarten through fourth grade students participate in donating items to offer fun and unique class baskets.</p><p>Special school-wide projects will be displayed and offered up in the live auction. Additionally, the live auction will include decorated pumpkins and more.</p>
