Voter registration deadline is Oct. 9

Residents who plan to vote in the upcoming election in November can check their registration status on www.indianavoters.in.gov. They can also update any of their information that may have changed and register to vote if they need to.

The last day to register to vote in the Nov. 6 election is Oct. 9. Early voting begins Oct. 10.

The number of registered voters in Johnson County dropped by more than 4 percent since the presidential election in 2016 due to a state-required cleanup of registered voters who have been inactive for more than two elections.

To register, residents must have a valid Indiana Driver’s License or Indiana State Identification Card, be a citizen of the United States and be at least 18 years old on or before the next election. A 17-year-old may register and vote in the primary election if the voter turns 18 on or before the election.

Residents who have trouble finding themselves on the Indiana voters website or don’t have access to the internet can call Johnson County’s voter registration office between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at 317-346-4466.
