Lawrence Ray Rudy Mitchell, 91, of Franklin, previously of Indianapolis passed away on October 3, 2018. He was born on November 3, 1926 to the late Cecil and Goldie (Gowan) Mitchell. Lawrence was employed in printing for over 43 years, retiring from the Indy Star after 14 years of service. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Lawrence was a Past Master of Southport Masonic Lodge #270 F&AM, Kentucky Colonel and a member Southport Chapter #442 Order of Eastern Star. Lawrence is survived by his siblings Barbara Bechman and Robert Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in passing by his parents,siblings Dorothy Hosier and Ruth Bostian; nieces Diana Matlock and Nancy Mitchell; nephew Gary Service; and longtime friend Kathleen Ritchie. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2018 in Ransford Chapel at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment with military honors will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center is handling the arrangements.
