Magen’s picks – October 11

Do you know where your ancestors came from? Do you know how to find out? The Johnson County Museum of History is hosting a genealogy day this weekend.

The museum is one of a few in Indiana that looks at historical events and time periods through the lens of what it was like to live through that event as a resident of the county.

The event includes speakers on different genealogy topics. The library also has resources that will allow residents to look up their own genealogy in the county.

NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, 2 and 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12 and 13, Artcraft Theatre, 57 N. Main St.

I had trouble sleeping for weeks after I saw this movie for the first time in junior high. I am ready to give it another try.

The Artcraft Theatre in Franklin has a host of horror and Halloween-themed movies to get local residents in the mood for the season.

Freddy Krueger and his razor-tipped glove come to life in this Wes Craven classic that has haunted horror movie lovers’ dreams since 1984. The movie is rated R, so the kiddos should stay at home.
