Fall breakers have limitless options for entertainment

<p><strong><em>F</em></strong>all break has started, and your family will not have to look far to find something to do together.</p><p>Johnson County’s tourism ventures have weekday hours to allow fall breakers the chance to navigate a corn maze, take a hay ride or pick a pumpkin.</p><p>Libraries have planned craft days and movie nights, and fall break camps are popping up across the county.</p>[sc:text-divider text-divider-title="Story continues below gallery" ]<p>Here is a look at what your family can do during fall break.</p><p>Kelsay Farms</p><p>Kelsay Farms in Whiteland extended its hours through Oct. 19.</p><p>Families can visit the farm during the day and go through the corn maze, climb the hale bay mountain, see a cow being milked, play in the corn crib play area or ride the Moo Choo Express.</p><p>The farm, at 6848 N. County Road 250E, will be open from noon to 6 p.m. during Sundays and the weekdays of fall break. Hours are extended until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.</p><p>Tickets are $10. Other items such as snacks, fall gourds and pumpkins cost extra.</p><p>Baxter YMCA</p><p>Youngsters can attend a fall break camp at the Baxter YMCA.</p><p>The fall break camp runs Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Oct. 19.</p><p>Campers can swim and do other activities during the camp.</p><p>Families can register at <a href="http://indymca.org/youthdevelopment">indymca.org/youthdevelopment</a> or by calling 317-484-9622.</p><p>The Apple Works</p><p>Youngsters can pick their own pumpkins, pet animals and sample apple slushies and dumplings at the Apple Works near Trafalgar.</p><p>The orchard will be open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday during break. Live music is planned for the weekend.</p><p>Admission is free, but the cost of additional items such as pumpkins and apples varies. Other activities may have a fee as well. The orchard is at 8157 S. County Road 250W, southeast of Trafalgar.</p><p>Johnson County Public Library</p><p>Youngsters can grab a book or catch a story time during the weekdays at multiple branches of the Johnson County Public Library.</p><p>Librarians have planned other daytime events to help curb fall break boredom as well.</p><p>The events include:</p><p>Teens are invited to make art by altering books during Frankenbooks: Altered Book Art at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the White River library, 1664 Library Blvd., Greenwood. All materials are provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own books.</p><p>The Johnson County REMC will teach students how to be safe around electricity at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Franklin library, 401 State St.</p><p>Youngsters can stay up late for a movie that is part of the International Film Festival Family Night. The movie “Kiki’s Deliver Service” starts at 7 p.m. at the Artcraft Theatre, 57 N. Main St., Franklin.</p><p>Families can celebrate all things pumpkin at a pumpkin party at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the White River library. All crafts and activities will involved pumpkins.</p><p>Greenwood Public Library</p><p>Teens can learn to write computer code at TeenHQ: Coder Dojo at 6 p.m. today at the library, 310 S. Meridian St.</p><p>Teens can also listen to ghost stories and play spooky games at 6 p.m. Friday during the TeenHQ: Midnight Society event.</p>
