Edinburgh residents injured in accident

<p>An Edinburgh woman who was taken by helicopter after being involved in a two-vehicle accident northeast of the Edinburgh Premium Outlets was listed in good condition on Monday afternoon.</p><p>When firefighters were sent to the scene at 6:25 a.m. Friday, they were told that drivers were trapped in their vehicles, Fire Chief Matt Lynch said.</p><p>Columbus firefighters were also sent to the scene with extrication equipment, he said. Each vehicle was on its side in a cornfield, Lynch said.</p><p>The driver of a 1998 Mercury Mountaineer, Ariel D. Gutana, 28, of Edinburgh, was airlifted to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, where she was listed in good condition. Firefighters cut away the back section of the vehicle to extricate her, according to the fire department.</p><p>Wesley Mourey, 40, of Edinburgh, who was driving a 2007 Dodge Nitro, was also trapped in his vehicle, but was able to get out when the windshield was removed by firefighters, Lynch said. He was treated and released at Columbus Regional Hospital for minor injuries, Lynch said.</p><p>Both drivers were wearing seat belts, which Lynch said prevented the accident from resulting in a fatality.</p>
