Local marching bands earn berth to semi-state

<p>Four local marching bands have advanced to semi-state competition.</p><p>Marching bands from Center Grove, Greenwood, Indian Creek and Whiteland earned a spot in the Indiana State School Music Association semi-state competition on Oct. 27 by placing in the top 10 in their class at the regional competition sites.</p><p>Center Grove earned a gold rating, with an award of distinction in visual for Class A. Whiteland’s Marching Warriors also earned gold in Class A. Greenwood’s Marching Woodmen and Irish guard earned gold in Class B. Indian Creek’s Marching Braves earned gold in Class C.</p><p>The four bands will travel to schools in central Indiana on Oct. 27 for semi-state competition. Bands that perform well will earn a right to compete for a state title at Lucas Oil Stadium.</p><p>Center Grove and Whiteland will perform in semi-state at Ben Davis High School with Center Grove performing at 1:52 p.m. Whiteland goes on at 2:18 p.m.</p><p>Greenwood goes to Pike High School, where it performs at 5:59 p.m. Indian Creek goes to Decatur Central High School for a 1:39 p.m. performance.</p><p>The Blue Regiment at Franklin Community High School competed at regionals, but did not advance semi-state.</p>
