Beulah Agnes (Dallas) Walker, 95, passed away Friday afternoon, October 19, 2018 at Aspen Trace Senior Living in Greenwood. She was a resident of Greenwood.
</p>
<p>
Beulah was born August 27, 1923 in Brown County. She was the third daughter of the late Chester B. and Verna (Merriman) Dallas.
</p>
<p>
She was a 1941 graduate of Helmsburg High School and was a member of the Unity Baptist Church in Brown County as a child.
</p>
<p>
Beulah went on to marry Alexander ‘Laughlin’ Walker on April 20, 1943 in Nineveh.
</p>
<p>
While her husband served during World War II, Beulah and her two older sisters lived together and worked in Indianapolis. There were many stories of their time together during the war and they were often referred to as the "Dallas Girls."
</p>
<p>
Laughlin preceded her in death on September 14, 1990 after 47 loving years of marriage.
</p>
<p>
Beulah was also preceded in death by a son in law, Verlis ‘Jim’ Walker; siblings, Thelma Kanis, Doris Dallas, Beatrice Vaught, Marguerite Strickling and James Dallas.
</p>
<p>
Beulah retired in 1975 as a secretary with Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis after 25 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Greenwood and a former member of the Lynhurst Baptist Church in Indianapolis.
</p>
<p>
Beulah’s hobbies included cross stitch, sewing and crocheting. She was a huge sports fan and enjoyed watching Indiana University Basketball, Indiana Pacers and Major League Baseball, with the Atlanta Braves being her favorite team.
</p>
<p>
Beulah’s family, especially her grandchildren, loved her cheeseburgers and it was not uncommon for her homemade pies to be fought over at family reunions.
</p>
<p>
Beulah is survived by her daughters, Linda Walker and Wanda (Dan) Ireland both of Greenwood; sister, Veda (Max) Schrougham of Trafalgar; grandchildren, Scott (Mary) Walker, Stephanie (Jeff) Routen, Dawn (Tony) Thompson, Todd (Brittney) Ireland and Emily (Chris) White; step grandson, Grant Routen; great grandchildren, Ashley and Aden Walker, Colton and Kimber Thompson, Kyleigh White, Bennett Ireland; and several nieces and nephews.
</p>
<p>
Beulah will be deeply missed by her family. They would like to thank the staff at Cherished Memories Unit at Aspen Trace Senior Living for their excellent care for the past four years.
</p>
<p>
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation &amp; Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
